Stem Stage 2!

About us / Our project.

In a group of 5, we have programmed the 4tronix modules with our microbits in order to demonstrate our skills we have learnt in the Programming world, highlighting our ambition for STEM whether it maybe in the technology sector or the engineering sector.

Microsoft MakeCode

In Microsoft MakeCode we used the python language and blocks to help us program our microbits to control the 4tronix car module. We programmed the microbit so that it could be controlled via another microbit, thus the microbits communicating with each other where one microbit acts a reciever and one acts a transmitter; both on the same radio frequency / radio group. In this situation, the transmitter is the remote control and the reciever is like the brain of the car.

Collaboration

Working together, we pooled our knowledge together in order to program the microbits and on the way also learn a few new things helping us to be able to increase our programming skills but also to help with debugging when we ran into a problem or when something wasn't working. We made sure to make our code look and feel professional by changing minor details within the code, making it more authentic to the task we were doing as if it was a real task given to us by an company.

Our intended Outcome:

The outcome we wanted was to be able to present how devices can be interlinked to be able to make some tasks more seemless to use. For example, instead of manually pushing a car, a remote control could be used to move the car, allowing for the task to be effortless. This goes to show how STEM in our current society can be used to make our lives easier; with smooth intergration, technology becomes part of our lives.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, programming the microbits in a team shows how people can pool their minds together and solve problems along the way to get an outcome that is rewarding. By representing the Mercerdes F1 PRIDE values, we have been able to complete this task that we were given, highlighting our Passion, Respect, Innovation, Determination, and Excellence for the task at hand, but also our capability and what we have in store for the future once we learn more about STEM highlighting our potential to do some amazing things in the STEM world.
